Lead Technical Architect
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Lead Technical Architect for an initial 4 month contract with option to extend on a rate of £781/day (Inside IR35). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
– Develop accessible target state architectures and technology recommendations that enhance technology platform(s) and support strategic goals.
– Articulate recommendations clearly to senior management, based on knowledge of IT and analysis of business and technical needs.
– Work with technical IT leads and IT operations colleagues to drive a program of technology improvement and innovation.
– Leading the design and review processes for new solution and services, evidencing the inclusion of ‘Secure by Design” in the technical designs you produce, oversee and approve
– Engage with staff, partners and 3rd party vendors to identify best-value solutions.
– Review and assure 3rd party digital, data and technology designs for major programmes.
– Maintain architectural assets including the design templates, catalogues and registers relating to technology solutions
– Work with business analysts and technical IT leads to identify opportunities for re-use and/or integration of components from other sources.
– Provide guidance and authority on the development or modification of the technical platform(s)
– Identify, quantify, and mitigate risks associated with design decisions.
– Temporary membership of IT Services Architecture Review Board
Essential Skills:
– Formal training and/or qualification in IT Architecture methodologies.
– Hands-on experience and a broad and comprehensive knowledge of IT infrastructure including VMWare vSphere technology, IP Networks, Azure Cloud Computing and Redhat Linux Operating Systems
– Proficient in system design and networking database management knowledge
– A knowledge of software engineering skills
– Vendor and partner engagement skills.
– Experience challenging assumptions and achieving consensus on solution requirements and designs.
– At least five years’ experience of both identifying and supporting the implementation of best-value IT infrastructure solutions.
Desirable Skills:
– Experience within the public sector in Scotland.
