Security Officer (Part-Time)
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit 4 x Security Officers for initial 12 month contracts, on three different shift patterns.
18.5 hours (Varied day and night shift) – £183.36/day via umbrella
20 hours per week (Thursday, Friday, Saturday day shift) – £172.76/day via umbrella
27 hours (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday day shift) – £162.99/day via umbrella
Responsibilities:
– Carrying out and taking ownership of security processes: patrolling, compiling security incident reports, assisting with investigations into incidents and supporting action plans to address any risks – training will be provided.
– An awareness of security threats and the ability to recognise and challenge behaviours from building users that may be a cause for concern.
– Working collaboratively across the organisation, assisting with a wide variety of day and evening events.
– Escalating any suspicious behaviour in accordance with internal escalation procedures.
– Searching and screening people and vehicles through the control of public and visitor access points using a combination of metal arch detection, hand-held metal detectors, x-ray baggage screening and physical searching of visitors – training will be provided.
– Ensuring that physical search is done professionally but aligned to the diverse needs of our visitors and applying the relevant support as needed – training will be provided.
Essential Skills:
– Customer care skills and working collaboratively within a multi-skilled team to deliver a high standard of service
– Being vigilant, with good oral and written communication skills, and a keen eye for detail
– Being highly reliable and enjoying working in a team environment
– Working with empathy and having a culture of respect in a diverse, public facing environment
– Taking account of others’ needs when delivering a service
– The ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with difficult situations and people
– IT and digital skills to write up reports
