Senior Accountant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Argyll and Bute, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Accountant for an initial 6-12 month contract on a rate of £235-£300/day (Inside IR35). This role can be remote, or hybrid based.
Responsibilities:
– Provide financial support and advice for medium- and longer-term financial planning for nominated service department.
– Support the nominated service department in both capital and revenue budget preparation and monitoring.
– Provide support to nominated service management team in effective use of financial resources.
– Financial performance reporting for nominated service department and support nominated service department in service reviews, efficiency improvements and cost reduction exercises.
– Support the Finance Manager in providing other corporate finance services, including tax management issues, financial accounting, including year-end accounts, treasury management and asset management.
– Undertake other duties appropriate to this job and grade, and as required by the line manager and ensure appropriate outcomes are achieved.
Essential Skills:
– CCAB qualified accountant
– Continuing professional development (meeting requirements of their professional body).
– Experience of providing financial advice and preparing and monitoring budgets in a complex organisation.
– Experience of presenting financial information to senior managers.
– Preparation and monitoring of complex budgets.
– Competent in the use of MS Office, particularly Excel.
– Excellent analytical skills.
– Involvement in preparation of annual accounts.
– Will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Argyll and Bute and beyond to meet the operational requirements of the organisation.
– Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work on own initiative.
– Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
– Enthusiastic, motivated and the ability to advise, guide and motivate/encourage others.
– Good negotiation, facilitation and customer service skills.
– Ability to work unsupervised.
– Ability to work effectively as part of a large team.
Desirable Skills:
– Evidence of CPD
– Preparing information and reporting on financial performance.
– Use of Oracle Financials and Discoverer.
