Admin Assistant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit an Administrative Assistant until the 28th of August 2026 on a rate of £15.50/hour PAYE – working 36 hours per week. This role will have flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities:
– Supporting administrative stages of several processes for example Disclosure Checks via the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme, Skilled Worker Sponsorship, Recruitment and Onboarding and payroll processing.
– Processing and entering high volume of data into various systems and databases accurately and efficiently.
– Conducting thorough and accurate identity checks for a variety of workstreams or purposes, ensuring that all required documentation and verification procedures are completed in timely manner.
– Maintaining and updating records and files as required.
– Assisting with other administrative tasks as required.
Essential Skills:
– Experience of collaborative working, sharing knowledge and information across teams and the wider organisation
– Experience working within frontline customer service
– Experience of working both independently and as part of a team, whilst balancing a range of competing priorities
– Ability to work with minimal supervision; to plan and prioritise own workloads; and to meet deadlines
– Flexible approach to learning and problem solving
– Commitment to personal and professional development
– Ability to access and collate a wide range of information for a range of audiences
– Highly effective communicator (written and verbal)
– Strong understanding and appreciation of the need for discretion and confidentiality in the workplace
– Ability to prioritise conflicting tasks with competing deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
– Highly developed customer service skills, with a helpful, flexible attitude
– Understanding of the need for accuracy and attention to detail
– Proven expertise in using Microsoft 365, in particular Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
– Fast and accurate keyboard skills
– Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post
– Values driven approach to practice, aligned with core values.
Desirable Skills:
– HNC in business administration or SCQF Level 7 equivalence via Professional Development Awards; Higher Education Certificates; Modern Apprenticeships; and SVQs
– Experience of working within an office support service environment
– Experience of working with large volumes of data.
– Experience of supporting team meetings, webinars, events and/or conferences online
– Working knowledge of online service desks such as Jira Understanding of the application of GDPR to the storage and use of personal information and data privacy
– Ability to respond to confidential and sensitive situations with confidence and discretion, utilising tact, diplomacy, and persuasion skills when necessary
