Architectural Design Officer
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit an Architectural Design Officer for an initial 6 month contract on a salary of £43,956/annum. This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
– Leading architectural teams in the production of architectural and technical designs, and in the production of: presentation material; illustrated reports; planning applications; building warrant applications; technical drawings, schedules and specifications.
– Leading multi-disciplinary design teams in the delivery of major projects.
– Managing the flow of information, both within the design team, and also distribution to client and construction teams.
– Liaising with planning officers and building control officers to ensure that submitted applications are processed efficiently.
– Leading projects through design and construction stages in accordance with the RIBA plan of work.
– Administering various forms of construction contract, including carrying out regular site inspections and chairing progress meetings.
– Providing assistance to the Assistant Group Manager and senior architectural officers as required.
– Assisting with the on-the-job training of other members of the team, to develop and improve their knowledge and skills, for the benefit of their professional development and of the projects.
Essential Skills:
– Experienced Architect – 5+ years preferably
– Educated to degree or other appropriate qualification in building design related subject.
– Good design skills.
– Good written communication skills using microstation office software.
– Good verbal communication skills.
– Competent in the use of CAD.
– Good technical design skills.
– Good drawing and visual presentation skills.
– Good written communication skills.
– Good knowledge of architect’s and lead designer’s duties at all stages of the design and construction process.
– Good knowledge of planning process and Building Standards.
– Knowledge of current good practice and legislation in relation to building design.
– Good construction knowledge.
– Good knowledge of legal and contractual issues in relation to construction.
– Good knowledge and experience of Health & Safety legislation applicable to design and construction.
– Commitment to delivery of high quality service.
– Experience of leading a multi-disciplinary design team.
Desirable Skills:
– Membership of a relevant professional architectural institute
– Knowledge of current architectural design theory and practice.
– Competent in the following software packages, Revit, NBS Specification Writer, Photoshop, SketchUp, InDesign, Powerpoint, Excel and Microsoft Teams
