Asbestos Officer
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Aberdeen, is currently looking to recruit an Asbestos Officer until the 24th of December 2025 on a rate of £19.50/hour PAYE – working 35 hours per week, from Monday to Thursday (8am-4pm) & Fridays for 8am-2pm. Some flexibilty may be required though. This role will be based in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities:
– Develop and maintain an asbestos register.
– Develop and maintain asbestos management programme.
– Update the Modus AIM’s 5 Asbestos Database or equivalent.
– Management of specialist contractors from purchase order to performance through to invoice
– Understand of building techniques and commercial stock
– Instruct and analyse asbestos survey reports, extracting key information.
– Instruct and oversee the asbestos removal works, including management of asbestos removal contractor(s).
– Undertake re-inspections of known ACM`s
– Provide advice on asbestos related matters as and when required across organisational services, snr management, client functions, building responsible persons, and frontline staff.
– Provide advice and guidance on the use of the organisation’s asbestos database to staff, external contractors, and others as required
– Contribute to the organisation`s policies and procedures on asbestos related matters and legislation changes
Essential Skills:
– Must hold BOHS Proficiency Module P405
– Must hold BOHS Proficiency Module P402
– Must hold BOHS S301 Asbestos and Other Fibres
– Have a sound knowledge of:
– The ability to travel to locations around the city to meet the requirements of the role
– A degree of flexibility in the event of incidents and emergencies
– Full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills:
– Digital asbestos management systems
– Construction industry practices
– Management of asbestos contractors
– CSCS

- HSG264 Asbestos: The Survey Guide.
- HSG248: The analysts’ Guide for Sampling, Analysis and Clearance Procedures.
- General building trades and construction techniques.
- Dealing with a wide range of clients from a range of services and backgrounds.
- Dealing with a range of property professionals and contractors (including contributing to contract monitoring meetings).
- Use of standard MS office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook) to a competent level.
- Strong Communication skills
