Assistant Accountant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Kilmarnock, is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant for a contract running up to 12 months on a rate of £200/day (Inside IR35). This role will be based fully onsite.
Responsibilities
– Manage, develop and implement effective financial monitoring and reporting in line with the Financial – Strategy and the Strategic Vision
– Provide day-to-day management of accountancy function including regular meetings with budget holders and preparation of overall Trust financial reports
– Provide day-to-day management of treasury function including management of regular bank reconciliations and cash flow management.
– Provide financial support to non-financial colleagues
– Be responsible for adherence to all relevant legislation and guidance including:
– Current Financial legislation
– Financial Regulations
– Accountancy Policy Bulletins
– Protocols
– Develop and maintain successful and productive partnerships that will have a positive impact on the service such as;
– External Funders
– Office of National Statistics
– Benchmarking Groups
Essential Skills:
– SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a Finance related subject.
– Knowledge of financial management systems.
– Demonstrable knowledge of technical financial and management accounting.
– Ability to translate financial issues concisely and effectively into a format that can be understood across different audiences.
– Ability to analyse numbers with a focus on understanding, interpreting and presenting financial results.
– Ability to demonstrate diplomacy, integrity and confidentiality.
– Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
– Change management skills
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet defined timescales.
– Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
– Ability to adopt hands on approach.
– Professional and customer focused approach.
– Enthusiastic and motivated.
– Ability to travel to attend meetings.
– Worked within financial or accounting environment.
– Contributed to budget planning of large complex budgets.
– Contributed to managing change and financial implications arising from service redesign.
– Contributed to developing constructive relationships across Services and external partners.
Desirable Skills:
– SVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a Business or Administration subject.
– Part-qualification of a CCAB professional accounting body.
– Knowledge of programme management methodology
– Evidence of CPD.
– Experience of budget setting processes and analysis of funding arrangements.
– Experience of monitoring and reporting financial performance against budget.
– Experience of completing statutory financial returns.
– Experience of working within a charitable environment.
