Assistant Cook
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Livingston, is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Cook for a contract until March 2026 on a rate of £13.92/hour (PAYE).Â
The role will be 32hrs p/w (Sessional), Monday-Thursday: 7am-2pm and Friday: 7am-1:30pmÂ
Â
A PVG will be required but the cost will be covered by the client. Â
Â
Responsibilities:Â
Â
– To cook and bake provisions required for daily service.Â
– To assist where required with hospitality bookings.Â
– Ensure deliveries are monitored and stored correctly.Â
– Preparing meals for special dietary needs if necessary.Â
– Comply with current food safety legislation and health and safety legislation.Â
– Ensure all records are kept up to date for the Catering Manager i.e. temperature records, cleaning rotas etc.Â
– Counter, shop and till duties (this includes the handling of cash).Â
– May be required on occasion to work evening or weekend shifts.Â
– Participate (either full or part time) in specific lifelong projects financed by European Social Funding, European Regional Development Funding or European Partnership Projects.Â

Essential Skills:Â
Â
– REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate.Â
– Hold the following qualification or be in the process of working towards: SCQF Level 5 – Food Preparation and Cooking.Â
– Experience in a similar role.Â
– Previous food preparation or cooking experience is required.Â
– Catering for similar numbers is required.Â
– Knowledge of current food safety and Health & Safety legislation.Â

Desirable Skills:Â
Â
– Experience of hospitality catering.Â
– Willingness to undertake further training.Â
