AWS Cloud Architect
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a AWS Cloud Architect for an initial 6 month contract with option to extend on a rate of £600-£650/day (Outside IR35). This role will be hybrid-based.
Responsibilities:
– Design the AWS cloud architecture to host mirrored databases, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.
– Select and implement appropriate AWS services (e.g., RDS, S3, Lambda) to meet project requirements.
– Develop the overall infrastructure, including networking, IAM policies, and backup/recovery strategies.
– Collaborate closely with the SME Oracle DBA to integrate Oracle databases into the cloud environment seamlessly.
– Plan for resource optimization and cost management for the AWS setup.
– Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices for cloud environments.
– Provide technical leadership and documentation for cloud architecture and infrastructure designs.
Essential Skills:
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
– 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture design, with a focus on AWS.
– Expertise in AWS services, including RDS, EC2, S3, and Lambda.
– Strong knowledge of networking, security configurations, and IAM in cloud environments.
– Experience in designing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
– Proficiency in cost optimization strategies for cloud infrastructure.
– AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification is highly desirable.
Desirable Skills:
– Experience working on database migration projects, particularly involving Oracle.
– Knowledge of modern data warehousing solutions and cloud-native database platforms.
– Familiarity with automation tools and infrastructure-as-code practices.
