BI Engineer
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Business Intelligence Engineer for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £500-£550/day (Inside IR35). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
– Build reports as per business requirements and functional specifications.
– Produce relevant specification documents and provide technical advice on reports to non-technical colleagues.
– Summarise and present data and conclusions in the most appropriate format for users.
– Have good command of Oracle HCM, Oracle ERP (especially Finance modules) to build reports.
– Be able to help less experienced permanent members of staff develop their Oracle Cloud report development skills.
– Apply tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation (including the use of business information tools).
– Identify, collect and migrate data to and from a range of systems.
– Manage, clean, abstract and aggregate data alongside a range of analytical studies on that data.
Essential Skills:
– Strong experience with Oracle Cloud reporting tools – OTBI & BI Publisher.
– Strong SQL scripting skills and the ability to carry out data manipulation and/or pipelining jobs.
– Understanding of data preparation activities and data modelling preferably within an HR and Finance setting.
– Experience working closely with external or internal users/organisations to understand and validate data inputs and explain analysis outputs in business rather than technical language.
– Experience of working with technical and non-technical stakeholders to help define reporting requirements via documenting in Business Requirement Documents, Functional Specification Documents and Technical specification documents.
Desirable Skills:
– Functional experience with Oracle HCM and ERP is highly advantageous.
– Excel, Microsoft BI and / or Tableau practical experience for data analysis and BI purposes is highly advantageous.
