Business Analyst
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Business Analyst for an initial 9 month contract on a rate of £441/day (Outside IR35). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
– Work with in-house developers, to understand how the proposed technical approach supports the business requirements.
– Produce clearly defined Product Backlog Items and user stories which have detailed descriptions and testable acceptance criteria.
– Document business rules and ensure these are captured as part of the acceptance criteria.
– Produce models to support the customers’ understanding of how the service will work.
– Deliver effective workshops to support the project
– Prepare and deliver ‘Show and Tells’ to project stakeholders.
– Deliver excellent services by working with stakeholders and in house developers to triage bugs
– Supporting users to undertake User Acceptance testing and providing feedback to developers and the project team as needed
– Keep stakeholders informed about project progress.
Essential Skills:
– Experience of SCRUM methodology
– Excellent communication skills, including experience of translating complex information through the facilitation of workshops, interviews, or reports
– Experience of working with in-house developers to deliver a new bespoke service or adding new functionality to enhance an existing (bespoke) service
– Extensive stakeholder management and facilitation skills to articulate business requirements and translate these into project deliverables
– Advanced Visio and PowerPoint skills, and similar visual tools to aid requirements gathering
– Functional and non-functional skills requirements definition
– Experience of contributing to the estimating of backlog items
– Experience of working with developers to identify impact of requirements on the service, ensure these are documented
– Good problem solving, facilitation and influencing skills to reach consensus
Desirable Skills:
– Writing Test Plans from Product Backlog Items ensuring that acceptance criteria are captured as part of the test plan.
– Methodical approach to testing using test plans and raising defects.
– Ability to support the launch and adoption of a new service through group meetings, writing user guides.
