Business Manager
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Inverness, is currently looking to recruit a Business Manager for a 6 month contract with the option to extend, on a rate of £21.57/hour (PAYE).
Responsibilities:
– Own and enforce governance admin standards, templates/ checklists
– Provide final quality assurance on:
– agendas, minutes, action logs, committee packs, formal papers
– Operate a ‘basics gate’:
– Correct chair
– Correct attendees
– Speakers invited
– Correct templates/version control
– Reject back to admin team substandard outputs
– Own corporate records compliance & submissions (filing, version control, audit readiness)
– Run a weekly operational assurance check across committees/exec support and flag:
– Slippage
– Quality risks
– Repeat failure patterns
– Simplify and maintain processes and guidance as reality changes
– Identify training/process fixes based on recurring issues
– Assist in co-ordination of visits where needed
– Proactive forward planning of the CEO diary, including managing clashes, ensuring monthly site visits are scheduled and protected where possible, recognising the diary is heavily constrained and frequently shifting.
– Regular structured check-ins with the CEO to confirm priorities, anticipate pinch points and keep plans realistic and up to date.
– Robust communication and follow-through, ensuring actions are confirmed, stakeholders are kept informed, and changes are managed without disruption.
– Update the Head of and Deputy Head of Service to provide assurance all associated work the department needs to complete is on track but equally flag risks where this may not be achieved or additional help/direction is required
– They may also need to support in other areas of work.

– Polite, personable and mindful of how tone & written methods of communication can come across
– Extensive experience of managing shifting priorities, particularly when there may be several concurrent priorities or deadlines.
