Communications Manager
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Inverness, is currently looking to recruit a Communications Manager for as soon as possible for an initial 2 month contract on a rate of £21.57/hour PAYE. This role can be fully remote or can be based onsite in Inverness.
 
Responsibilities:
 
– Develops, supports, and implements communications plans and campaigns to support the corporate strategy and priorities. This should include:
  1. Setting realistic, measurable, outcome-based objectives
  2. Researching the target audience and making recommendations based on their communications preferences and behavioural insights
iii. Establishing with the service what budget they should commit to campaigns and making recommendations which achieve best value for that budget. For example, recommending advertising channels and estimated costs for these – Communications Managers may also book channels on behalf of a service, but do not directly hold the budget themselves.
  1. Including ongoing feedback and measurement, and using this to improve plans iteratively and inform future campaigns
– To recommend and use appropriate channels to achieve SMART objectives, including print and broadcast media, social media, advertising, digital, website, video, print etc. This could include, for example:
  1. Identifying relevant online audiences and recommending an appropriate digital advertising package
  2. Storyboarding, shooting, editing, producing, and distributing video
iii. Briefing internal or external suppliers to produce graphic designs for online or print
  1. Researching social media memes or influencers relevant to a campaign and developing engaging associated content
  2. Identifying and pitching to relevant media for a proactive story
– Train colleagues from other services in plain English, social media, tone of voice, the role of the communications and engagement team, and other relevant topics.
– Maintain oversight of organisational direction, overall policy, and relevant public affairs.
– Attend relevant meetings, including incident management team meetings where appropriate, and recommend and implement appropriate communications actions.
– Leads, project manages and coordinates relevant internal and external events, launches, visits and presentations, ensuring the effective compiling and distribution of media briefings. Ensuring people are where they need to be and to ensure the smooth running of the event.
– To participate in the delivery of a reactive media response function which includes analysis, appraisal, investigation, and research for responses from senior managers and clinicians and responds directly to media enquiries put to the organisation. 
– Undertake research/surveys in order to provide background information to the media.
– Participate in a shared out-of-hours on call rota (pay supplement applies)
– Ensure appropriate management of film crews/production companies/photographers in accordance with the organisation’s policy whilst on premises.
– Contributes to routine tasks within the team, including media monitoring, managing corporate channels such as regular online publications, and moderating social media.
– Supports the Web Manager in encouraging colleagues to keep content up to date on the website and intranet.
 
Essential Skills:
 
– Internal communications experience
– Strong experience in communications, marketing, and media management
-Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment
-Experienced of delivery of high-quality communications that support organisational priorities
-Experience of working in Public Sector
