Cook
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Stirling, is currently looking to recruit a Cook on a rolling contract (covering absence) on a rate of £14.42/hour PAYE – working 35 hours per week. This role will be based in Stirling.
Responsibilities:
– Prepare and cook food according to recipes.
– Prepare requisitions for provisions, kitchen materials and equipment.
– Control portions as per agreed policies and minimise waste.
– Participate in service requirements between 7.30am and 6.30pm.
– Provide a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
– Use safe working practices at all times.
– Keep clean and orderly storerooms, fridges and freezers.
– Clean stoves and general work areas.
– Compile Health and Hygiene control sheets.
– Liaise with staff, students and members of the public are required.
– Comply with Catering Service policies and procedures and statutory hygiene regulations.
– Deputise for Kitchen Supervisor during holidays and absence.
– Record and place orders with nominated suppliers.
– Undertake other such duties as may be required as appropriate to the scope and grading of the post.
Essential Skills:
– Professional Cookery Level 2 or equivalent
– Food hygiene certificate, preferably at Intermediate level.
– Cooking skills.
– Understanding of industrial catering.
– Health and safety awareness and knowledge.
– Three year’s experience in food preparation within industrial catering or hotel environment.
– Good verbal communication skills.
