Credit Control Manager
Venesky-Brown is a multi-disciplined UK-based Recruitment Agency with a presence across Infrastructure, Public Sector & Energy. Founded in 2005, we have accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience in the recruitment industry. From our modest beginnings, we have grown to market leaders in our field, supporting UK major projects and taking a prominent role in delivering Government Frameworks. As a £100M turnover company ready for significant growth, we plan to double our size in the next five years, and we are looking for a driven, detail-focused Credit Control Manager who genuinely enjoys owning the Accounts Receivable function and understands the impact strong credit control has on business performance.

This is a hands-on leadership role with real influence. Leading a small, experienced Credit Control team (3), ensuring processes are efficient, accurate and commercially focused — maximising weekly billings while protecting and improving cashflow.

Working closely with clients across multiple sectors, you will be the key link between finance, operations and customers. Your ability to build strong relationships, resolve queries quickly and drive billing accuracy will be critical in supporting both existing partnerships and future growth.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role sits at the heart of the business and plays a vital part in Venesky-Brown’s continued success.

Salary £40,000-£50,000 (Dependant on experience), bonus, generous annual leave, group pension scheme, life assurance and private medical cover. Hybrid working arrangement: working 1 day in our central Edinburgh office.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, support and develop the Credit Control team, ensuring consistent, timely and accurate delivery
  • Own the end-to-end debt management and reporting process, maintaining accuracy and compliance
  • Actively monitor aged debt, investigate variances and implement effective recovery strategies to reduce debtor days
  • Track, analyse and report on key KPIs including aged debt, debt over 30 days and unallocated cash
  • Work in partnership with operational teams to resolve issues impacting billing and cashflow
  • Communicate confidently and professionally with clients, managing queries and disputes effectively
  • Identify and drive process improvements and automation to enhance cash collection and allocation

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Senior Credit Control or similar role
  • Proven experience in a fast paced, dynamic finance environment.
  • Experience of high volume invoicing and credit control would be advantageous.
  • Experience of Supervision and motivation of a team
  • Exceptional communication skills, adept at simplifying complex financial data for diverse audiences.
  • Track record of delivering timely, accurate and robust financial information.
  • Independent initiative combined with effective teamwork capabilities.
  • Passionate about Credit Control.
  • Expertise in accounting software such as Sage or Xero and strong Excel skills.
  • Experience within a Recruitment Billing agency or Construction would be advantageous
