Data Architect
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh/Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Data Architect (Principal Analyst) for an initial 4 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £36.79/hour PAYE. This role will be hybrid working.
Responsibilities:
– Provide technical leadership and direction across a range of domains, establishing and maintaining data architecture best practice and culture across a range of agile delivery teams, both through analysis and improvement of existing architecture and for future solutions
– Ability to translate strategic aims and outcomes to local delivery plans, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources
– Collaborating and problem solving with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure you are delivering maximum value and ensure alignment of data architecture with business objectives
– Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, data models, and data flow diagrams, including metadata, data lineage, data dictionaries and a catalogue of data utilised by the client for easy understanding and future reference
– Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to all elements of data architecture, evaluating new tools and technologies and recommending their adoption based on their suitability to achieve strategic objectives
– Collaborate closely with colleagues from other disciplines and partner organisations in common approaches and solutions to deliver against strategic aims.
– Ability to facilitate negotiations with a wide range of individuals within the public sector and beyond, to ensure the delivery of initiatives at the highest possible standards and in line with the client’s aims.
Essential Skills:
– Demonstratable track record of delivering data architecture solutions and processes for the achievement of tangible benefits and outcomes
– Reputable experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to provide specialist and well-evidenced data architecture expertise, analysis and direction
– Experienced in designing solutions and services with a high level of ingrained security and adherence to GDPR and other data related regulations
– Experience of mentoring and supporting members of delivery teams and driving knowledge sharing and adoption of best practices
– Highly experienced in analysing requests for data architecture services, assessing and communicating technical viability in line with existing or potential solutions and capabilities
– Proven experience in development and implementation of standards and best practices to enable best of breed data architecture services, including continuous improvement with data related teams and processes
– Commitment to own personal and professional development, and for others across NTS in relation to data architecture principles and approaches
– Ability to get the best from people and contribute to the leadership of multi-disciplinary teams, providing clear communication, support, motivation and encouraging innovation
– Extremely well-developed knowledge of data architecture principles and processes and how these are best applied to large, highly complex systems and datasets within cloud environments
– Experienced in the adoption, improvement and adherence of data architecture principles and processes across multi-disciplinary teams
– Effective communicator knowing how to communicate a vision to teams and stakeholders, while also relaying complex technical information in language understandable by a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders (both verbally and in writing)
– Delivery focussed, you are disciplined and able to define and prioritise what’s most important and how to achieve that in the most efficient and effective way
– Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise own workload, and that of others, and to meet strict deadlines
– Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post
– Values driven leadership approach to practice, aligned with core client values
Desirable Skills:
– Degree level qualification with in-depth experience and postgraduate or post registration study, such as that obtained through a master’s degree or
– SCQF Level 11 equivalence obtained via Professional Development Awards; Graduate or Professional Apprenticeships; and SVQs
-Experienced in Agile Methodologies
– Experience of working within a Health, Social Care or educational environment
– Experience of complex environments where the parameters of the job are not necessarily clearly defined
– Experience of communicating and influencing at senior level and of giving presentations at local/national levels
– Experienced in leading the planning, execution, and reporting of delivery progress at a senior level
– Line Management experience including coaching and/or mentoring of team members
– Track record in using Cloud architecture and services to deliver technology solutions
– An understanding of the wider combined health and social care system
– Strategic thinker, with an understanding of the long-term vision of the organisation and define approaches and plans that will achieve the vision whilst providing value and the best outcomes experience for stakeholders
– The confidence and presence to operate at a senior level and to engage with the Board and senior staff across public sector organisations
