Digital Content Officer
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Digital Content Officer for an initial 9 month contract with option to extend on a rate of £215-£235/day (Inside IR35). This role will be hybrid working with at least 1 day per week in the office.
Responsibilities:
– Ensure content created for the new website is aligned to our brand, meets our digital content standards and is relevant and accessible to our audiences.
– Work with Subject Matter Experts across the organisation to ensure content is ready to be published on the new website, assisting and advising them where required.
– Working with the Digital Content Designer, report on the progress of the content work stream and highlight potential issues and opportunities
– Publish content into the Umbraco CMS
– Attend meetings as required (online and face to face)
– Actively participate in the agile development sprints with the project team and the supplier team
– Assist with testing the new website and its components
– Proactively contribute to the development of the team and its role in the organisation, working with colleagues to share knowledge and advice (including reporting to the Executive Leadership Team) and representing Digital at meetings with other departments and project teams to establish credibility and trust.
– Following launch, support the website content, analyse and evaluate content performance to aid continuous improvement and inform decision making.
– Following launch, work closely with subject matter expert colleagues to respond to feedback, fix issues and generally support the launch.
Essential Skills:
– Experience of Working in an Agile project environment as part of a team – ideally including a 3rd party suppler
– Familiarity with website accessibility and usability standards and guidelines
– Experience of editing and creating a significant amount of digital content as part of a corporate web development project
– Excellent written English and ability to make complex language and processes easy to understand.
– Experience of delivering to deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail
– Experience of working to a style guide
– Confident advocating for our users while considering how to balance their needs with organisational objectives, using data to evidence content decisions.
– Effective time management with ability to focus energy, drive and enthusiasm to prioritise goals, meet deadlines and manage a demanding workload
– Experience working with a Content Management System (CMS) like Umbraco
– Experience of briefing colleagues on digital content good practice, who may not have the same knowledge and expertise
– Understanding of digital customer journeys and user needs
Desirable Skills:
– Understanding of User Experience (UX), and experience of using User Personas to support content development.
– Experience of commissioning content.
– Experience developing, creating and managing a wide range of content, including on-brand visual assets for video, blogs, email, web and social media.
– Experience of working in a large, complex organisation or public body.
– Experience in using MS Office and Agile tool, such as JIRA or MS Devops
