Finance & Budgeting Officer
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Falkirk, is currently looking to recruit a Finance & Budgeting Officer for an initial 5 month contract on an annual salary equivalent of £36,707 – £39,533. This full-time role will be hybrid based, with the option of working from home 2 days per week.
 
Responsibilities:
 
– Liaise with key stakeholders across the college to price new business opportunities using the costing model.
– Using the college systems and financial data generate associated pricing letters or tender documentation and any required payment schedules.
– Enter all accepted price quote letters into the invoicing system and update budgets accordingly, to ensure completeness of income.
– Handle a range of complex information in order to solve relatively complex problems.
– Ensure the costing model is maintained and the data in it is current, robust and approved 
– Support other ASC and Finance department staff to solve any financial problems as they occur and give advice to staff at all levels who may require management accounting information for decision making purposes.
– Support the Pricing Manager on the preparation of the ASC departmental budget, and commercial contract budgets within curriculum areas.
– Monitor the income and expenditure generated from commercial delivery and ensure they are allocated appropriately to departments within the finance ledgers.
– Manage and maintain the database of milestone payments, paid and future, for the c1,000 modern apprentices on the College contract with SDS.  This ensures completeness of income and assists staff within ASC with their own roles in connection with the apprentices.
– Contribute to the preparation of the department’s operational plan. 
 
Essential Skills:
 
– Part-Qualified Accountant (ACCA or CIMA)
– Sound knowledge and practical experience of a wide variety of management accounting and reporting techniques. This will include commercial and other training programmes, international work, strategic funding, budget setting, and periodic management reporting.
– Costing experience would be highly advantageous.
– Good ICT skills including Microsoft Excel.
 
Desirable Skills:
 
– Some experience in a similar role, preferably in the FE/HE sector.
