Finance Manager
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Dundee, is currently looking to recruit a Finance Manager on a permanent basis on a salary of £60,068 – £64,365/annum. This is a hybrid role, with two days required on site each week.
Responsibilities:
– Responsible for the preparation of timely production of monthly / quarterly management accounts and forecasts, weekly cash flow forecasting and annual Budgets.
– Responsible for the preparation of statutory accounts, in accordance with the relevant accounting standards and statement of recommended practice and annual reporting timetable.
– Carry out detailed financial analysis, including variance investigations, cost and income analysis, procurement analysis, tender pricing/cost analysis, and investment appraisals, to support Budget Holders and provide financial insight.
– Overseeing the effective operation and development of accounting functions, namely, accounts payable, accounts receivable and management accounts, and supporting staff.
– Overseeing finance software packages used by the Organisation with an emphasis on effective financial control procedures and continuous improvement.
– Work closely with the Head of Finance and other Finance Manager to ensure a comprehensive financial management accounting service is provided to all budget holders and departments within the organisation.
– Preparation of financial feasibility assessments for new business initiatives and tenders and provide further information and guidance to be incorporated into any recommendations.
– Manage and supervise the submission of statutory returns within prescribed timescales.
– To support Head of Finance with any treasury management investment and loan management issues.
– Attend meetings when required with external customers and funding partners.
– Ensure compliance with the requirements of internal audit reports.
– Drive continuous improvement within Finance processes and across the business and implement change initiatives.
– Any other duties as required by the Head of Finance.
Essential Skills:
– Professional accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/CA)
– Proven experience of management and statutory accounts preparation
– Detailed knowledge of finance, financial regulation, accounting practice and relevant accounting standards, e.g. IFRS, SORP
– Proven experience of budget preparation and cash flow forecasting and financial modelling
– Previous experience of leading finance team, staff management, coaching and development of staff
– Previous experience of internal audit, financial controls and continuous improvement programs
– Knowledge of VAT and Corporation tax requirements
– Advanced Level of IT skills and excellent knowledge of Microsoft systems and computerised accountancy packages
– Ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines
– Be able to evidence strong, effective communication
– Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships
– Proven leadership qualities, ability to make effective decisions, meet deadlines and take responsibility
– Ability to promote change and improvements within the team
– Ability to demonstrate significant professional and technical knowledge relevant to the role
– Ability to use initiative
– Flexible attitude that does not compromise standards, aims or objections
Desirable Skills:
– Management qualification
– Previous experience of consolidated group accounts
– Knowledge of Housing Association legislation
– Hold a valid driving licence and have access to own car
