Finance Officer
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Temporary Finance Officer for an initial 12-week contract with the potential to extend at a rate of £16.37 PAYE per hour This role will be a hybrid of working at home with occasional travel to the office

As the finance officer, reporting to the finance manager, you will provide finance administration support to ensure that the organisation provides a high quality, efficient, effective, and professional service to its staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities:
As the finance officer, reporting to the finance manager, you will provide finance administration support to ensure that the organisation provides a high quality, efficient, effective, and professional service to its staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders. The post holder will meet pre-set timescales to ensure that all financial transactions processed are in accordance with the organisation’s policy and procedure.
- Manage the organisation’s invoicing process using manual, electronic processes, and multiple e-mailboxes, ensuring system controls, error detection, and resolution are in line with the Shared Services Provider’s timetable.
- Monitor multiple finance mailboxes, respond to enquiries where possible, and escalate to appropriate National team colleagues when required.
- Ensure the efficient and accurate management of Cards and, petty cash systems (recording of transactions and controls management)
- Support the Finance Manager by providing regular budget monitoring and performance information
- Ensuring that appropriate financial records are maintained for auditing purposes and answering queries from the external and internal auditors.
- In the spirit of positive teamwork, willingly lend support to colleagues and members of our volunteer community, when possible, in their times of pressure and demand
- Manage the invoice approval flow, invoice queries and prepare weekly payment runs with the support of the other Finance Officer
- Support the wider team with issuing purchase orders in line with the organisation’s processes and procedures.
- Any operational financial support work that might arise, such as reports.
Essential Skills:
- Excellent numeracy skills
- Experience in effectively working alongside staff and/or volunteers
- Experience working with invoices and financial processes
- Ability to research and present information accurately.

- Ability to multi-task, deal with work within tight and sometimes conflicting deadlines and prioritise work appropriately.

- (volunteers and staff) in a supportive, encouraging & professional manner.
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint).
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Able to effectively use computerised office applications including Microsoft Excel or equivalent spreadsheet software, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
Desirable Skills:
- HND or equivalent experience
