Financial Accountant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Dundee, is currently looking to recruit a Financial Accountant on a permanent basis on a salary of £45,585 – £54,395/annum. This role will be hybrid, working 2 days in the office.
Responsibilities:
– Prepare and submit all the organisation’s Financial Reporting, including preparation of Statutory Accounts, and financial returns
– Responsible for the external audit, and key liaison with external auditors
– Review of quarterly Balance Sheet reconciliations, including responsibility for monthly Investment portfolio reconciliations and related adjusts
– Prepare and submit other taxation returns, including quarterly VAT, and annual Corporation Tax. Assist payroll officer with Pension Reporting.
– Prepare and submit annual TRAC returns, and in liaison with senior staff, ensure workload plan data is consistent with this.
– Oversee the organisation’s Capital Reporting, including maintaining the asset register and physical verification of assets.
– Prepare/report monthly cashflow forecasts, including Capital spend forecasts, and advise on investing surplus funds via bank/term deposit opportunities
– Responsibility for authorisation of payment files, including BACs and any other payments
– Undertake due diligence of partner/potential partners, liaising without International Office, through review of their financial statements/provided data, and communicate this back through committee structure
– Liaise with external employment, tax/vat advisors to answer adhoc internal queries/assurance requirements throughout the year, providing/organising training as required
– Provide adhoc support to other members within the organisation as required.
Essential Skills:
– Financial Accounting Qualification or Qualified by experience
– Advanced Excel skills, with experience of data manipulation/pivot tables.
– Up to date Knowledge of VAT, ideally within a partial exemption environment and knowledge of other taxation areas, including Corporation Tax, and Pensions.
– Up to date experience of Statutory reporting, and Financial Accounts preparation.
– Experience of cashflow monitoring and reporting, including review of investment opportunities, taking account of fund availability/ capital spend.
– Previous Management Accounting experience, and understanding of month end and year end procedures
– Excellent interpersonal skills
– Ability to Lead a team including direct line management responsibility
– Ability to manage own time to ensure deadlines are met
Desirable Skills:
– Previous experience of capital reporting, including maintenance of Fixed Asset register
– Previous experience of Financial investment reporting, including reporting of monthly movements and gains/losses.
– Experience of overseeing External audit, and ensuring all deadlines are met
