Financial Controller

As a £100M turnover company ready for significant growth, we are looking for an experienced Finance Controller to help support our expansion.
 
Due to an internal promotion Venesky Brown is seeking a meticulous and strategic Financial Controller who will play a key role in overseeing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting and analysis.
 
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this position is responsible for supervising the finance team, supporting financial planning, and ensuring the integrity of financial systems to support Venesky Brown’s continued growth.
 
Competitive salary of circa: £60,000-£70,000 per annum (plus bonus of up to 10% per annum based on performance). Flexible hybrid working arrangement: working 1 or 2 days per week in our central Edinburgh office.
 
Responsibilities:
 
– Team Management: Supervise the Payroll Manager and Finance Manager, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks and fostering strong internal relationships and collaboration across departments.
– Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, including supporting schedules, ensuring they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
– Forecasting and Analysis: Create and maintain revenue and margin forecasting models to track performance and provide critical financial guidance to support business operations and decision-making.
– Cash Flow Management: Prepare and manage cash flow forecasts and scenario planning to support financial stability and growth.
– Financial Modelling: Support senior decision-making through financial modelling, detailed financial analysis, and report writing for both finance and non-finance audiences.
– Payroll Oversight: Review and approve payroll for external candidates, ensuring accuracy as prepared by the payroll team.
– Client Credit Checks: Conduct credit checks and ensure debtor ledger trades within agreed contractual terms, prepare terms and conditions for new clients, providing necessary information for trading considerations.
– System Enhancement: Collaborate with key business users and system providers to identify and implement enhancements to financial systems and reporting functionality.
– Compliance: Uphold compliance with invoice financing facilities and the supplier payment process.
– Deputy Role: Act as the deputy to the Finance Director as required, providing cover and support in their absence.
– External Stakeholder Management: Serve as a point of contact for external stakeholders, including auditors, HMRC, and banks.
 
Essential Skills:
 
– Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
– Proven experience in a dynamic finance environment with a minimum of 5 years in a Finance Manager or Financial Controller role.
– Knowledge of payroll processes is advantageous.
– Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex financial data for diverse audiences.
– Demonstrated ability to deliver timely, accurate, and robust financial information.
– Initiative and effective teamwork capabilities.
– Experience in implementing new accounting software systems is desirable.
– Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage or Xero and strong Excel skills.
