Financial Systems Accountant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Swindon, is currently looking to recruit a Financial Systems Accountant for an initial 12 month contract on a salary of £35,000-£38,000/annum. This role will be hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the Swindon office.
 
Responsibilities:
 
– To provide support and maintain financial systems including, but not limited to, Integra and ExpenseMe Pro, and their interfaces for all customers.
– To lead on financial systems reporting strategy, including creating, maintaining and enhancing reports (using Crystal Reports and XQuery), as well as the Excel based management information system and other management reporting tools.
– To interrogate and manipulate the database (MS SQL) to resolve support issues.
– To create and maintain systems support documentation.
– To coordinate disaster recovery tests.
– Identify and promote system-based process improvements.
– To participate in financial systems development and related IT projects.
– Work with software suppliers to implement new releases, resolving software issues and identifying areas for improvement.
– Act as a contact for the provision of relevant data and analysis to internal and external parties on an ad-hoc basis, such as during audits.
 
Essential Skills:
 
– GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) C or above
– Experience of working with and supporting financial systems
– Experience of financial or performance reporting
– Good verbal and written communication skills
– Experience of writing user guides or process notes
– Analytical and problem-solving skills
– Sound numeracy with the ability to prepare, analyse and manage methodically large amounts of data
– A customer-oriented attitude
– Good team player
– Intermediate-level Microsoft Office user
– Understanding of financial and IT terminology
– Aligned with Historic England behaviours
– Understands and models Nolan’s Seven Principles of Public Life
– Excellent attention to detail
– Deadline orientated, and able to prioritise, plan and organise own workload
– Highly computer literate
– Display an interest in development and improvement of elements of systems used
– Capable of working with the minimum of direction and supervision
– Flexible and adaptable approach to changing environments
– To behave in a professional manner at all times
– Take responsibility for your own work
