Front Shovel Loader
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation within East Ayrshire, is currently looking to recruit a Front Shovel Loader for an initial 1 Week contract on a rate of £12.70/hour PAYE. This role will be based onsite.
Responsibilities:
– Plan, implement and monitor all mobile plant machinery processes through good practice to maximise the processing of recyclable materials and ensuring health and safety and environmental compliance is in place at all times throughout the MRF, Household Waste Recycling Center and the operational site.
– Responsible for the operation of waste and recyclate mobile plant machinery, including vehicles, conveyors and balers. Ensure at all times the safe operation of mobile plant machinery and vehicles in connection with recycling of materials adhering to on site Safe systems of work at all times while in operation including routine maintenance as required.
– Responsible for processing the loose recyclable material by loading the MRF operational hopper in a timely manner ensuring that the feedstock is continually processed for the other members of the team to process on the picking station.
– Identify any contamination within the reception hall and remove where necessary to ensure no blockages within the operational plant as far as reasonably practical.
– Operate recycling vehicles to carry out loading of contractor vehicles, empty bulking bays and sorting materials for collection and other associated works as directed to ensure the smooth running of the operational area including the household waste recycling centre including routine maintenance as required.
– Operation of processing plant associated in the sorting and baling of recyclate material, collecting baled materials and stacking in a safe manner within the allocated storage bays (including routine maintenance as required).
– Maintain a clean and safe environment within the Western Road Depot, ensuring traffic management routes are clear and accessible at all times. Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle you are operating on a daily basis ensuring the health and safety of yourself and others.
– Complete daily vehicle inspection checks at the start and end of mobile plant duties and ssist in the undertaking of required routine maintenance checks such as oil and water reporting any defects to the Foreperson.
– Responsible for the security of all mobile plant machinery within Recycling Operations which are used in connection with the processing of recycled material.
– To maintain the cleanliness of areas associated for the processing of recyclate material and ensure the safety of yourself and colleagues at all times. Completing cleaning schedules at the end of each shift and maintaining the cleanliness of hard to reach locations within the operational plant.
– Responsible for the daily recording of bale counts and waste cages for compliance and recording purposes and reporting all daily figures to the Chargehand and Foreperson.
– Liaise with the Weighbridge Operator on a daily basis to ensure you are aware of arriving contractor vehicles and ensure all weights have been recorded on arrival and exit for compliance and recording purposes.
– Assist with onsite projects and help to implement best practise to ensure we are maximising our recycle targets.
– Liaise appropriately with any contractors attending site ensuring that prior to works commencing they have signed in, completed a site induction, submitted all relevant paperwork related to the task to the foreman/team leader, and are wearing full PPE within the operational area.
– Ensure the safety of yourself and all employees on site by ensuring full PPE being worn appropriately to complete the tasks within the operational areas.
– To undertake any other duties as appropriate to the post and in line with the needs of the Recycling Operations Section.
– Ensure all materials and equipment provided to assist in carrying out the duties of the post are properly secured in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.
– Promote the health and safety of employees at work and of service users through the implementation of the Organisation’s policy on health, safety and welfare at work and Service Health and Safety arrangements in accordance with all relevant statutory requirements, leading by example.
– Ensure all activities for which the post holder is responsible are delivered in accordance with Organisation’s Equality and Diversity Policies and the statutory and general specific Equality Duties.
– Ensure that the Organisation’s Customer Service Commitment is followed in all dealings with the people we serve.
– Adhere to the Cleaner Communities Services policies and procedures for good records management across the Services, ensuring that the correct information is created, maintained, stored and retrieved in accordance with business need and statutory and legislative requirements.
– Participate in the East Ayrshire FACE Time process annually in accordance with the Organisation’s procedures.
Essential Skills:
– Mobile Plant Operational Licence: Loading Shovel.
– Wheeled Loading Shovel
– Driving Licence.
– Knowledge of Health and Safety Procedures preferably within a waste environment
– Literacy and numeracy skills.
– Awareness of Health and Safety Procedures.
– Working within a team.
– Working in a fast paced environment.
Desirable Skills:
– Mobile Plant tickets can be refreshed on site.
– Knowledge of waste management best practises.
– Knowledge of Waste Management industry including recycling materials and targets.
– Good IT skills.
