Head Chef
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Falkirk, is currently looking to recruit a Head Chef for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of £16.84/hour PAYE. This role will be based in Falkirk.
Responsibilities:
– The management of the Kitchen team including Kitchen Porters
– Create competitive product pricing to deliver profitability, efficiency and customer satisfaction
– Recruit and train team of Chefs and Kitchen Porters
– Ensure food hygiene practices are monitored and maintained by team to provide a safe and clean working environment and compliance with industry standards.
– Develop and maintain food safety management procedures as directed by Environmental Health
– Manage stock control and place orders as necessary
– Liaise with supplier account manager
– Create new food recipes and train out to kitchen team to ensure consistency
– Implement and monitor kitchen cleaning standards
– To advise customers of products and services available and actively promote the venues
Essential Skills:
– Basic numeracy and literacy
– HND in Professional Cookery with Management or equivalent
– Organisational skills
– Customer care skills
– People management skills
– Relevant experience is required.
– Experience working as part of a team.
– Experience of COSHH regulations.
– Basic computer literacy.
– Previous Catering experience.
Desirable Skills:
– Mentoring skills
– Attention to detail
– Experience in moving and handling.
– Ability to organise competing demands.
– Experience in current Health and Safety regulations and procedures.
– Experience using MS office packages.
– Experience in managing a budget.
– Experience managing a team.
– Gaelic language skills
