Health and Saftey Technician
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Sutherland, Caithness and Ross Shire, is currently looking to recruit a Health and Safety Technician for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £15.96 – £17.78/hour PAYE. This role will be based onsite. The working hours are 35 hours per week. Part time work could be considered.
Responsibilities:
– Provide coordination with the Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team.
– Assist the Area Teams to develop Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all Roads Maintenance activities.
– Monitor and assist in the annual review of Risk Assessments
– Assist the Area Teams to develop Toolbox Talks for all Roads Maintenance activities.
– Develop and maintain a Roads Health and Safety SharePoint library of documents.
– Develop and maintain a Roads HAVs database for equipment.
– Develop and maintain documentation using the latest technology.
– Develop and maintain a Health & Safety Induction for Roads Operatives.
– Coordinate the delivery of Toolbox Talks and recording attendance.
Essential Skills:
– Experience of working in a construction environment.
– Experience of preparing Risk Assessments, Method Statements & Toolbox Talks
– Valid driving licence.
– Ability to plan and organise activities to meet deadlines.
– Ability to respond to and identify changes to priorities.
– Ability to make use of technical and statistical information.
– Good IT skills and ability to make best use of ICT.
– Logical approach to problem solving
– Commitment to providing service to the public.
– Ability to focus on achieving targets.
– Experience of working in a roads maintenance environment.
– Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
– Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
– A NEBOSH or IOSH qualification or similar e.g. Site Management Supervision.
– You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within the Highlands to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
