HGV Driver
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in East Lothian, is currently looking to recruit a HGV Driver for an ongoing contract on a rate of £14.85 per hour PAYE. This role will be 37 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
– Lead and assist in the removal of domestic and trade refuse, in conjunction with routines scheduled on a daily basis.
– Lead and assist in the removal of special uplifts and bulky items.
– Lead and assist in the uplift of recyclable materials, in conjunction with routine schedules on a daily basis.
– Ensure the safe operation of all vehicles and equipment used and ensure that all daily safety checks and routine cleaning are carried out as and when required.
– Drive and operate LGV, associated vehicles and operate plant and equipment including the required daily servicing and routine maintenance checks (for example oil and water).
– Supervise crew members and monitor the execution of duties.
– Complete all records and related paperwork, including transfer/consignment notes and the operation of vehicle weighing systems (including weigh ticket documentation, record material movements, haulage details and other associated documentation).
– Ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times, and that all risk assessments, COSHH assessments, management instructions, method statements and policies are followed and complied with.
– Undertake other such duties and responsibilities that may be reasonably required by the service.
Essential Skills:
– Experience of driving LGV vehicles.
– Experience of manual handling.
– Experience in operating hydraulic equipment.
– Experience of operating refuse collection vehicles up to 26 tonnes or equivalent.
– Experience of supervising a team.
– Knowledge of the waste industry.
– Understanding of effective customer care.
– Numeracy skills.
– Effective verbal and written communication skills.
– Effective organisational and time management skills.
– Effective hand-eye co-ordination.
– Ability to undertake the duties of the post.
– Ability to work outdoors in all weathers.
– Ability to work without close supervision.
– Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
– Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
– Ability to follow set tasks.
– Ability to prioritise own workload and delegate to others.
– Full and current LGV Licence.
– CPC
Desirable Skills:
– Health and Safety qualifications/Training.
– First Aid qualification/Training
– Experience of working outdoors.
– Experience of dealing with members of the public.
