Lead Infrastructure Architect
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Lead Infrastructure Architect for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £780/day Inside IR35. This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
– Develop target state architectures for the organisation’s technology platform(s) to meet end-of-life and end-of-contract deadlines.
– Work with technical IT leads and IT operations colleagues to drive a program of technology improvement and innovation.
– Produce IT solutions that meet evolving business requirements and comply with technical architecture policies, standards and patterns
– Engage with staff, partners and 3rd party vendors to identify best-value solutions.
– Review and assure 3rd party infrastructure designs for major programmes.
– Maintain architectural assets including the design templates, catalogues and registers relating to infrastructure
– Work with business analysts and technical IT leads to identify opportunities for re-use and/or integration of components from other sources.
– Provide guidance and authority on the development or modification of the technical platform(s)
– Identify, quantify, and mitigate risks associated with design decisions.
– Temporary membership of IT Services Architecture Review Board
Essential Skills:
– Demonstrable good understanding of IT Architecture methodologies
– A broad and comprehensive knowledge of IT infrastructure including:-
– VMWare vSphere technology
– IP Networks
– Azure Cloud Computing
– Redhat Linux Operating Systems
– Vendor and partner engagement experience
– At least five years’ experience of both identifying and supporting the implementation of best-value IT infrastructure solutions.
Desirable Skills:
– Experience within the public sector in Scotland.
– Knowledge of public sector digital frameworks
