People & OD Assistant Business Partner
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Cardiff, is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Business Partner for an initial 3 month contract with option to extend on a rate of £254.80/day (Inside IR35). This role will be predominantly remote with some travel to offices in Cardiff.
Responsibilities:
– Support the People & OD Business Partner to deliver a proactive and professional business partnering service working closely and collaboratively with the Directorates senior leadership teams.
– Support on all aspects of workforce planning and resource availability, leadership development, engagement and people management practices for the designated Directorates.
– Understand priorities and issues and work within the operational People & OD team to support in providing expertise for the People & OD Directorate.
– Support the People & OD Business Partner with the embedding of workforce planning and good people management practices within the team and across the organisation, which could include actions to increase engagement with the workforce, the facilitation of workforce redesign and new ways of working, management of organisational change people related issues, performance management and monitoring of workforce targets and developing managerial and team capabilities.
– Support the People & OD Directorate with the implementation of activity which directly supports the delivery of the People & OD strategy and adds value to the overall performance of the Directorate.
– Exemplify the values and behaviours of the organisation and take action to embed them throughout the organisation, as well as clearly demonstrating when supporting the implementation of all People & OD policies and practices to ensure that the organisation is equipped to provide a world class service and be the “employer of choice” for the organisation.
– Develop key working relationships with Directors, Senior Management, People & OD colleagues internal and external to the organisation, external service providers, Local and National Trade Union Representatives and colleagues across the organisation.
Essential Skills:
– Degree in an associated professional field (or equivalent qualification / experience).
– Associate member CIPD.
– Specialist knowledge acquired through specialist courses and/or significant formal training in a relevant field.
– Further evidence of relevant higher-level education and/or training.
– Knowledge gained through practical experience of working at this level, across the range of work procedures and practices.
– Evidence of continuous professional development.
– Significant experience of working as a people professional.
– Experience of working in partnership with Trade Unions.
– Sound experience of investigations involving employees e.g. disciplinary, grievance, sickness, dignity at work.
– Experience of preparing and presenting investigations at hearings, appeals etc.
– Experience of delivering training to multi-disciplinary groups.
– Experience of managing a range of employee relations issues.
– Experience of making recommendations and implementation.
– Up to date knowledge of employment law and good practice in managing employee relations.
Desirable Skills:
– Organisational awareness.
– Management experience.
– Welsh language skills are desirable at levels 1 or above in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Welsh
