Principal Accountant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Scotland, is currently looking to recruit a Principal Accountant for an initial 13 month contract, on a rate of £300-350/day (Inside IR35). This role can be worked on a remote basis, however there may be a requirement for very occasional travel to Central Scotland for meetings.
Responsibilities:
– To undertake the management of a financial support team for a nominated service department.
– To provide financial support and advice for medium and longer term financial planning for nominated service department.
– To support the nominated service department in both capital and revenue budget preparation and monitoring.
– Provide support to nominated service management team in effective use of financial resources.
– Financial performance reporting for nominated service department and support nominated service department in service reviews, efficiency improvements and cost reduction exercises.
– To support the Finance Manager in providing other corporate finance services, including tax management issues, financial accounting, including year-end accounts, treasury management and asset management.
Essential Skills:
– CCAB qualified accountant
– Continuing professional development (meeting requirements of their professional body).
– Post qualifying experience in a senior position within a busy finance function.
– Experience of providing financial advice and preparing and monitoring budgets in a complex organisation.
– Experience of presenting financial information to senior managers.
– Experience of staff management.
– Preparation and monitoring of complex budgets.
– Competent in the use of MS Office, particularly Excel.
– Excellent analytical skills.
– Involvement in preparation of annual accounts.
– Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work on own initiative.
– Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
– Enthusiastic, motivated and the ability to advise, guide and motivate/encourage others.
– Good negotiation, facilitation and customer service skills.
– Ability to work unsupervised.
– Commitment to teamwork as a means of goal achievement.
– Sound decision-making skills.

– Evidence of CPD
– Experience of working within similar environment.
– Preparing information and reporting on financial performance.
