Project Accountant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Project Accountant for a 6 month contract on a rate of £50,928 – £54,567 per annum (pro rata). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
 
Responsibilities:
 
– Working with the Head of Finance, provide a lead role in the delivery of financial support to key organisational initiatives, including pay and grading work, and the implementation of new CRM software.
– Ensure that the financial implications of major projects are understood and supported with reliable and robust financial input and advice.
– Play an active role within project delivery teams. This includes assimilation, interpretation and presentation of complex financial and non-financial information, including performance indicators, to multi-disciplinary teams of staff and senior managers from across the organisation.
– Work to an agreed Project agenda, ensuring that objectives are clearly defined, and that Project Plans are agreed each time.
– Respond appropriately to queries, investigating all areas of concern, within an agreed timescale.
– Lead on key work streams within the Financial Management Improvement
– Programme, while having a knowledge and understanding of the complexity of the services provided by the organisation.
– Collaborate with finance colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation to review and develop a full suite of financial management policies and procedures.
– Support the development of business cases for capital and revenue investment, ensuring all aspects of finance are considered and risks identified.
– Perform such other duties as may be directed from time to time by the Head of Finance or Finance Manager.
– Support the development and delivery of Financial Competency Training to nonfinance staff, including managers, within the organisation. Ensure that financial systems and policies are appropriately understood by staff at all levels of the organisation.
– As required, support the organisation by providing guidance on budgeting, contracting matters and the efficient use of resources.
 
 
Essential Skills:
 
– CCAB Qualified accountant
– Significant management accounting experience working with a range of stakeholders in a complex organisation. 
– Demonstrable ability to assimilate, interpret, and present complex financial information
– Experience of working within a project environment and contributing to delivery of overall project objectives.
– Experience within the Finance function in the charity or health care sectors is desirable..
– Excellent knowledge and experience of computer based management accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
– Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills both orally and in writing.
– Good negotiation and influencing skills.
– Strong numerical skills, ability to understand and interpret complex financial information.
