Project Manager
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Project Manager until the 31st of March 2025 on a rate of £500/day (Outside IR35). This role is flexible with regular travel to Glasgow.
 
Responsibilities:
 
– Definition of the delivery plan in sufficient detail to allow forward planning of resources across the business, technology and 3rd party suppliers
– Ensure projects have financial approval and plan, track and report on spend throughout the project lifecycle
– Management of project-level plan, risks, issues and changes to ensure successful delivery
– Responsible for project reporting and visibility to various governance forums
– Coordination of 3rd party technical resources and business resources assigned to the project
– Consolidating and documenting the fundamental components of projects (scope, schedule, resource requirements, budgets, risks, opportunities and issues, and quality requirements)
– Develop and maintain the project plan exercising change control when appropriate to ensure that agreed project timescales are adhered to
– Direct and monitor the work of project teams and work streams within the project to ensure delivery on time, to budget and that project interdependencies are identified and actively managed
– Identify and manage problems, risks and issues which may affect the successful delivery of the project, initiating or escalating corrective action as appropriate
– Ensure that Project management procedures are adhered to within a formal governance structure and support the running of the Project Board, completing all required reporting
– Manage all aspects of project resourcing and budget management to ensure that the project is kept on track and that delivery is within the allocated budgets
– Support all aspects of communication related to the Project, including the preparation of papers for various Board and Committees
– Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and represent the project at relevant meetings
– Developing, implementing and updating resources allocation plans needed for the project
– Manage third party contributions to the project
– Take responsibility for the management and maintenance of the project risk register
– Deploy project management methodologies to achieve service standards, identifying milestones, measures, impact and outcomes
– Managing the integration of project outcomes into business-as-usual, addressing the readiness of users, compatibility of work systems and the realisation of benefits
– Establishing and managing reviews at appropriate points during and after projects, which will inform governance by providing evaluations of progress, methodologies and continuing relevance
– Establishing and implementing, when necessary, protocols to change the scope of projects and updating configuration documents as required
– Overseeing testing on smaller less complex projects or working closely with the Test Manager managing the testing on more complex projects
 
Essential Skills:
 
– Project/Programme management qualification (PRINCE2, MSP, APM, PMI etc) Or equivalent Extensive IT Project Management experience
– Experience of leading change
– Experience of working closely with key stakeholders
– Proven track record of managing projects within agreed timescales
– Experience of procurement and commissioning processes including negotiation with 3rd parties
– Experience of managing the delivery of key external supplier organisations
– Accustomed to delivering in demanding and high paced organisations
– Experience of working within a PMO and process improvement experience
– Good knowledge and experience of budget management
– Confident and competent in IT applications in particular Microsoft Office applications including MS project
– Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects
– Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to build strong relationships at all levels
– Good commercial acumen and focused to achieve results
– Good interpersonal and influencing skills to ensure the most effective and efficient delivery of the project
– Ability to foster a culture of trust and co-operation and team working
– Solutions-focused with good problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
– Highly effective internal and external networker
– Sound business case development and approvals skills
