Project Manager
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation with offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, York and Swindon, is currently looking to recruit an Interim National Projects Manager for a contract until 31st March 2026 on a rate of £400/day (Inside IR35).
Responsibilities:
– To manage the planning and startup of projects including but not limited to commercially focused projects to drive income generation.
– To create and use appropriate project and programme documents, tools and controls to successfully plan and start up a range of projects (including but not exclusive to business case development, project initiation and design, progress monitoring and reporting, risk and issue management, stakeholder management and communication plans, change controls and assurance plans, budget and resource management).
– To develop effective working relationships with colleagues across organisation to ensure the effective management of projects.
– To work with the Public Engagement, Policy and Evidence and Corporate Services Groups and local teams in Regional Delivery to ensure projects are effectively communicated both internally and externally.
– Work with the Head of Major Projects to develop and implement other projects and programmes within the team’s remit, being entrepreneurial and agile, able and willing to help respond to new work requests.
– To take an active role in Project Boards and Working Groups, suggesting innovative approaches and solutions and supporting the SRO by taking delegated responsibility for the delivery and reporting of project progress, targets, milestones and actions.
– To work with our analytics department to ensure evaluation is embedded into projects, including post-project analysis and identification of lessons learned, making recommendations to the Head of Major Projects, Head of Programmes and Planning, relevant Senior responsible Owners and Director of Business Improvement where appropriate.
– Be an advocate and work collaboratively across the organisation to maximise our effectiveness.
Essential Skills:
– Excellent communication skills with ability to analyse data/information and present it and its conclusions clearly and concisely
– The ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners
– Ability to think strategically and identify interdependencies between projects and programmes
– Attention to detail and accuracy
– Good communication and report writing skills.
– Effective ICT skills across a wide range of common applications.
– Ability to work without regular supervision and as part of a dispersed team
– Demonstratable experience of planning, delivery and close of multiple concurrent projects and/or programmes using recognised project and programme methodologies and tools.
– Commercial acumen – experience of developing commercial approaches to support income generation and negotiating contracts.
– Experience of contributing to Treasury Green Book business cases through the production of discreet products to support the five-case model.
– Proven experience of managing budgets, procurement and / or management of contracts, including risk management.
– A relevant project management qualification such as Prince2, APM PMQ, Agile
– Excellent digital skills and confidence in using Microsoft 365
