Quantity Surveyor
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Redditch, is currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of £34 PAYE – £44 umbrella (Inside IR35). The working hours are 37 hours – Monday to Friday. This role will be based onsite in Redditch.
Responsibilities:
– Prepare contract documents (Tenders, Bills of Quantities, Work schedules, Specifications and Schedule of Rates) and to procure goods, services and works contracts. This will include participating in the evaluation of tenders and reporting on the outcome.
– Undertake site measurement and the valuation of works undertaken including the preparation of payment notification and all relevant associated documentation.
– Prepare and agree costs for variations and non-standard items of work.
– Prepare, analyse and agree claims and final accounts.
– Produce relevant financial reports for projects and contracts.
– Maintain knowledge of standard methods of measurement and standard forms of contracts.
– Assess, collate and present leaseholder contributions together with relevant service charges and conduct a review where required.
– Assist and prepare any relevant returns associated with Government or Regulator requirements including external funding providers.
Essential Skills:
– At least 2 years’ post qualification experience within the Construction Industry to include pre and post contract Quantity Surveying duties
– Knowledge of various forms of Building Contracts
– Experience of budget management covering both revenue and capital together with external funding sources
– Experience of creating and issuing relevant contract administration documents
– Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
– Willing to undertake appropriate training
– Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying
– Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Must be well organised
– Must be reliable, a good timekeeper and have evidence of a good attendance record
– Must be able to produce and present information in a well-structured and concise way
– Must be flexible and have a ‘can do’ attitude and approach in supporting the demands and specific needs of the service
– Must be able to understand detailed verbal instructions and be able to interpret written work instructions, drawings and plans
– Must be able to work alone or as part of a team to achieve the aims and objectives of the service
– Proactively seek to change and improvement working practices
– Can work under your own initiative, be self-motivated and work under pressure.
– Experience of using IT systems including Microsoft Office and in particular Excel.
– Ability to access and drive a car
