Recruitment and Admissions Officer
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Recruitment & Admissions Officer for an initial 8 week contract on a rate of £16.85/hour PAYE starting from 11th May – working 35 hours per week. This role will be based onsite in Edinburgh.
Responsibilities:
– Support all applicants in providing the information needed.
– Attend recruitment events to promote the organisation and the courses on offer, this includes for example open days, clearing events and career fairs.
– Work collaboratively across departments and teams to ensure enquiries are answered timely and accurately, whether this be email, telephone or in person.
– Support the team with recruitment, admissions and enrolment activity to give the best chances of success for young learners.
– Accurately score applications according to set criteria (academic qualifications and personal statements) including processing of Fee Status Questionnaires (FSQ).
– Responsible for assessing and processing Fee status questionnaires, passports, VISA documentation, Government share codes and any other home office documentation required to assess if an applicant will be a Home or International student for fee purposes and to communicate the outcomes to applicants and or relevant staff and stakeholders via email, phone or in person.
– Arrange interviews regarding course offers, referrals and rejections for selecting courses.
– Make suitable offers for recruiting courses based on ranking the highest scoring applicants to ensure maximum student numbers are achieved.
– Liaise with applicants regarding the suitability of the course they have applied for and providing information on relevant funding to ensure payment of tuition fees.
– Award course places or refer to alternative courses based on the outcome of the scoring process.
– Work closely with finance staff to ensure fees are correct and receipted accurately on Unit- E.
– Liaise with academic centres to ensure students are at the correct status to proceed with enrolment.
– Processing residency checks in line with Government and regulatory requirements, or any other regulatory activity or processing requirements directed by management.
– In addition to these duties, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.
Essential Skills:
– Educated to higher grade (SCQF level 6) or equivalent
– Experience of working in a customer focused environment
– Competent in Microsoft packages e.g. Excel, Outlook, Word.
– Ability to produce work of a high standard whilst under pressure and dealing with conflicting priorities
– Able to demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
– Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills
– Ability to develop positive working relationships with individuals at all levels
– Must be adaptable in attitude and approach
– Ability to contribute positively to the work and ongoing development of the team
– Ability to use initiative and be solution-focussed
– Ability to assess multiple sources of data and use sound judgement
– Must be flexible and willing to work at any of the organisation’s locations.
Desirable Skills:
– HNC in Administration or a Computing based subject
– Knowledge of FE environment and in particular issues impacting on students
– Knowledge of Recruitment and Admissions processes and systems
– Knowledge of academic qualifications and awarding bodies
– Experience working in a recruitment and admissions background within the Education Sector.
