Redaction and Publication Officer
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Redaction & Publication Officer for an initial 23 month contract on a rate of £180.58/day (Outside IR35). This role will be office-based, with a degree of flexibility of up to two days per week working from home.
Responsibilities:
– Be responsible for the redaction of documents, such as interviewee statements, hearing transcripts, etc., prior to publication on the organisation’s website, ensuring high degrees of accuracy and consistency.
– Be responsible for the preparation and publication of documents, such as interviewee statements, hearing transcripts, etc., on the organisation’s website, ensuring high degrees of accuracy and consistency.
– Be responsible for audio and error checks on transcripts produced by the organisation’s Transcription Services provider.
– Be responsible for the creation and application of ciphers on redacted information, including related cipher databases and process flowcharts, ensuring high degrees of accuracy.
– Develop extensive knowledge of the organisation’s records database and its contents.
– Develop extensive knowledge of all case studies and the redaction guidelines, to allow informed decisions to be taken in relation to the approach to redaction.
– Work closely with the organisation’s Legal and Paralegal Teams, while undertaking the redaction of sensitive personal data before documents and interviewee statements can be released to Core Participants (CPs).
– Ensure day-to-day delivery and completion of business processes, including redaction and publication actions and timelines, preparing reports and making recommendations to update where required.
– Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the organisation, establishing effective working relationships with colleagues and in particular the Legal and Paralegal Teams.
– Work to ensure the integrity of the organisation at all stages of the redaction and publication processes, safeguarding organisational, personal and reputational risk.
– Work as part of a small to medium sized team, with an emphasis on encouragement, active listening, supporting each other’s wellbeing, and clear communication.
– Support the Assistant Head: Redaction & Publication in timely publication of the organisation’s finalised documents.
– In the absence of the Assistant Head: Redaction & Publication, support colleagues handling sensitive, impacting personal information, monitoring team resilience.
– Ensure the organisation’s Restriction Orders and policies are followed.
– Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, such as Data Protection (DP) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UKGDPR).
– Assist in providing support to the organisation teams, in particular, the creation and maintenance of cipher keys, and the redaction of documents that may be required at short notice.
– Where required, process and analyse documentary records gathered by the organisation, including the handling and management of sensitive and confidential information.
– Carry out research tasks, primarily based on the documentary records.
Essential Skills:
– High levels of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
– Experience of working in small and medium sized teams.
– Proven experience of working under pressure and to tight timelines.
– Proven experience of handling sensitive information.
– Proven experience in working autonomously and assuming responsibility for document quality standards.
– An analytical thinker with the ability to also think laterally, i.e., context and jigsaw identification. and
– Flexibility to work across the various functions in the wider Team.
