Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Rothesay – Argyll and Bute, is currently looking to recruit a Refuse Collector for a one month contract on a rate of £12.60/hour PAYE. This role will be based onsite. The working hours are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

 

Responsibilities:

 

– Undertake, usually as a member of a team, duties connected with the removal of household, industrial and commercial refuse from a variety of locations (for example, houses, shops, schools) including the use of a full range of refuse containers (for example, household bins, plastic sacks, “wheely bins” and bulky uplifts).

– Completion of Weekly Work Sheet returns.

– Whilst not collecting refuse, undertake ancillary duties as appropriate to the type of work undertaken by the teams being serviced.

– Assisting the driver as required in safe manoeuvring of the vehicle on the round or at the disposal location, daily vehicle checks, washing and cleaning of the vehicle

– Must be prepared to work overtime on Refuse Collection duties when required.

– The jobholder will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Argyll and Bute to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

– The jobholder will be expected to participate in emergency situation responses and standby duties as required

– Undertake other duties appropriate to this job and grade, and as required by the line manager and ensure appropriate outcomes are achieved.

 

Essential Skills:

 

– Previous experience within a Waste Management Section

– Aware of Health & Safety policies and relevant regulations.

– An ability to communicate effectively with members of the public.

– Can work as part of a team.

– Manual handling awareness

 

 

Desirable Skills:

 

– Waste Management Background

– Loading refuse vehicles
