Research Manager
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Research Manager for an 18 month contract on a rate of £25.12/hour.
Responsibilities:
– Report to the Policy and Research Team Leader, and be a part of the internal research and analysis team to manage and execute a series of research reports
– Line management responsibility for 3 Research Officers
– Build and maintain relationships with members of the organisation to manage and respond to research requests and needs.
– Employ qualitative analysis tools, such as NVivo, to support the ongoing analysis and research outputs. If you have not done this before, a willingness to quickly learn this method and any other software as required.
– Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including staff new to research, to ensure the successful operation and logistics of the project.
– Manage new and existing research contracts, checking in with academics and/or researchers as required and arrange the publication of final reports on the website
– Provide evidence-based reports, summaries and recommendations to policy colleagues and senior members of the organisation.
Essential Skills:
– Ability to carry out tasks independently with minimum oversight, balancing a range of competing priorities and deadlines to deliver both short- and long-term goals.
– Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) when dealing with complex issues, to influence decision making and make an impact.
– Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyse and critically evaluate information from a variety of sources and draw out key messages to meet the needs of research users.
– Extensive experience in overseeing all phases of the research process—including design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination—with demonstrable experience in task management and in guiding and supporting staff who are new to research.
– Candidates should hold a Master’s degree with practical experience, in a relevant social science, public health, or related field where there was a substantive emphasis on the use of qualitative research methods.
