Resident Engineer/Clerk of Works
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Aberdeen, is currently looking to recruit a Resident Engineer/Clerk of Works for an initial 12 week contract on a rate of £26.14/hour PAYE. This role will be based on site.
Responsibilities:
– Undertake and manage contract monitoring of site works, ensuring works are delivered on time, are value for money and to the specified quality
– Ensure that works carried out by the Authority’s contractors comply with drawings & specifications and workmanship is of an adequate standard
– Act as Authority’s Representative on site under some delegated authority from the Authority’s Representative
– Assist contract administration of road projects
– Monitor the contractors’ work and ensure they comply with their contractual obligations, drawings & specifications
– Input to and track quality processes
– Monitor contractor’s construction work and require remedial works to be carried out as necessary
– Monitor contract progress including Statutory Undertaker works and require remedial action to be carried out as necessary
– Carry out assessments and negotiations with regard to contractual claims submitted by contractors and consultants
– Monitor expenditure on road construction projects
– Carry out roads authority responsibilities relevant to the site team’s work
– Assist with consult with the public, land owners, businesses and elected members
– Prepare reports
– Assist with the management of contract
Essential Skills:
– Management of works contracts
– Assessment and management of contractual claims
– Undertaking effective contractual negotiations with confidence
– Management of contractual risk
– Management of quality processes
– Management of/ working collaboratively with Statutory Undertakers to deliver necessary works (diversion/ protection) NRSWA
– Management of/ working collaboratively with Network Rail BAPA
– Good people management skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary/ organisational team environment
– Deliver projects and evaluate design solutions
– Use oral and written methods effectively for the communication of technical and other information to professionals, elected members and the public
– Think independently and use innovation to solve problems
– Select techniques, procedures and methods to undertake engineering tasks
– Design and develop engineering solutions
– Identifying, organising and using resources effectively to complete tasks
– Developing project programmes and effectively manage tasks & resources to deliver outcomes on time
– Manage and apply safe systems of work
– Working on own initiative and as part of a team
– Using computer systems and programmes
– Proven record at management level of delivering works contracts
– Extensive relevant civil engineering and works contract management experience
– Work outside in all weathers when required
– Work at height, in confined spaces and in/ near watercourses
– Work out with normal working hours when required
– A suitable civil engineering qualification
