Senior Finance Business Partner
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Aberdeen, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Finance Business Partner for an initial 12 month contract on a rate of £21.03/hour PAYE. Hybrid working.
Responsibilities:
– Working closely with the Finance Manager on the budget planning and control of the budget. Deputise for them as required by developing a broad knowledge of business and financial processes, and play a part in shaping them.
– Manage the month accruals process to set timelines and have responsibility for the preparation and issue of monthly variance reports including Full Year Budget & in year forecasting and Forecast Variance to report monthly and yearly financial information to senior managers to inform decision making. You will also have responsibility for drafting reports for the Executive Management Team (EMT) and SAFER Programme Board.
– Provide support to the SAFER Programme division and understand their core business, budget activity and embed financial management within day-to-day work. Work to include holding monthly finance meetings, reviewing expenditure in returns, comparing data on Oracle Cloud and producing monthly accrual journals.
– Assist with the monitoring of SAFER budget forecast including reviewing actual expenditure against forecasts and investigating reason for variances. To update actual and forecast expenditure into rolling forecast reports.
– Increase awareness of relevant financial principles to achieve value for money. Contribute to the continual improvement of internal controls and promotion of best practice of finance activities to non-finance staff.
– Supporting audit requirements and preparation of information and evidence for internal and external auditors.
– Initiating and monitoring purchasing activities in Oracle Cloud and processing Oracle transactions for the programme.
Essential Skills:
-Ability to manage your workload, balancing the needs of the regular monthly and annual financial cycles with other requirements.
-Be able to demonstrate experience of analysing, interpreting and acting on financial information to support decision making and provide finance advice to non-finance colleagues.
-Sound knowledge of financial management including understanding of financial planning and budgeting techniques.
-Excellent Excel skills for constructing and interrogating spreadsheets for reporting purposes.
Desirable Skills:
-Hold or training for an accountancy qualification.
-Experience of Oracle Cloud or similar finance and purchasing systems.
