Senior Health & Safety Advisor
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Scotland, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Health and Safety Advisor for an initial 3 month contract on a rate of £250-£300/day (Inside IR35). This role will be primarily based from home, with occasional office attendance required in the Central Belt or Aberdeen.
Responsibilities:
– Provide management and staff with specialist advice and support on Health and Safety matters.
– Support the development of a recognised Health and Safety Management System.
– Support the development of health and safety audit plans to monitor health, safety and welfare arrangements within the organisation
– Carry out incident investigations, provide incident reports, ensure actions and lessons learned are completed in a timely manner
– Liaise with portfolio leads to identify staff training needs in health and safety matters and assist with its provision directly or through training service providers
– Develop health, safety and welfare procedures and policies, and to support reviews of hazard and risk assessments for all activities in all workplaces.
– Lead on more complex H&S projects, liaising with colleagues in other parts of the business contributing to these projects, and ensuring timely completion of actions to keep project deadlines on track.
– Co-ordinate, collate and keep appropriate formal (statutory) and informal records (accidents, incidents, training, maintenance, etc.) review trends and provide reports as required.
– Provide specialist advice to relevant Safety Committee(s) and Senior Leaders groups.
Essential Skills:
– Relevant H&S qualifications (min NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety) plus experience.
– Specialist knowledge of H&S legislation.
– Requires a good understanding of a range of techniques/processes relating to H&S and of the customer requirements and the related processes/procedures and methodologies.
– Good knowledge and understanding of one area of H&S application in particular, e.g. laboratories, marine etc.
– Communication skills: good written and oral communication, report writing, presentation skills.
– Experienced Microsoft Office user
