Senior Product Manager
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation based in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Product Manager for an initial 4 month contract on a rate of £480/day (Inside IR35).
Responsibilities:
– Experience implementing a product strategy and roadmaps for medium to
long term delivery and implementation.
– A strong background in technology delivery.
– A clear understanding of Agile development methodologies.
– Ability to facilitate negotiations with a wide range of individuals to ensure the delivery of initiatives at the highest possible standards
and in line with organisational aims.
– Effective communicator knowing how to make complex technical information
and language simple for diverse internal and external stakeholders (both
verbally and in writing).
– Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise workload and to
meet strict deadlines.
Essential Skills:
– Expert knowledge and experience of developing, delivering and support for products, particularly in a similar environment.
– Experience of designing and presenting the vision for a portfolio of products and gaining organisational and team level adoption.
– Demonstrable track record of delivering products that return measurable value.
– Significant experience of Agile development methodologies.
– Experience of analysing requests for development and assessing the viability Points below
– Experience of communicating and influencing at senior level and of giving presentations at local/national/international levels.
– Ability to work with minimal supervision and to meet deadlines.
– Flexible approach to learning and problem solving.
– Commitment to personal and professional development.
– Strong influencing and leadership skills.
– Know how to get the best from people and lead multi disciplinary teams, giving them context of the problem/challenge form a business and user perspective and setting clear, prioritised objectives and constraints to work within.
– You can coach and develop the capability of others, leading by example.
– The confidence and presence to operate at a senior level and to engage with the organisation Board and senior staff.
– Specialist expertise in product management, preferably within similar sectors.
– Strategic thinker, with and understanding of the long-term vision of the organisation and define product strategy and long-term plan(s) that will achieve the vision whilst providing value and the best experience for the user.
– Delivery focussed, you are disciplined and able to define and prioritise what’s most important and how to achieve that in the most efficient and effective way.
– Management role including coaching and/or mentoring of team members.
Desirable Skills:
– Degree level qualification with in-depth experience and postgraduate or post registration study, such as that obtained through a master’s degree or
– SCQF Level 11 equivalence obtained via Professional Development Awards; Graduate or Professional Apprenticeships; and SVQs.
– Experienced in Agile Methodologies.
– Experience of working within a similar environment.
– Experience of complex environments where the parameters of the job are not necessarily clearly defined
– Experience of communicating and influencing at senior level and of giving presentations at local/national levels.
– Significant experience of managing large and complex projects/programmes.
– Writing proposals in response to commissions from the organisation and other public sector organisations.
– You can coach and develop the capability of others, leading by example.
– The confidence and presence to operate at a senior level and to engage with the organisation Board and senior staff across other public sector organisations.
