Service Designer
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Service Designer for an initial 15 month contract on a rate of £25.86 – £30.11/hour PAYE – working 35 hours per week. This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
– Use design thinking, methods and tools to solve problems: both large and complex such as connecting seemingly unconnected concepts and organisations; and small and detailed such as the logistics of a pilot
– Plan, organise and facilitate user research, co-design workshops and events: bringing together individuals, partners and stakeholders to unpick challenges and identify new solutions
– Enable co-leadership for individuals: Designing solutions that enable individuals themselves to co-lead research and service design activity
– Synthesise research results into insights, themes, service opportunities and design principles
– Use research/insights to identify inspiring new solutions
– Develop well specified concepts, blueprints and prototypes
– Communicate findings and ideas with internal and external stakeholders and influence thinking
– Work closely with cross functional teams to define the detail of services, e.g. prototyping and creating specifications
– Champion, demonstrate and build capacity in the design process for stakeholders, partners and colleagues
Essential Skills:
– Have demonstrable work experience equivalent to SCQF level 9 or be educated to degree level in design
– Experience of using the design process in service or product development
– Experience of delivering new service or product designs
– Experience in planning and leading design projects
– Knowledge of service design processes and related disciplines
– Well versed in Adobe Creative Suite including; Indesign, illustrator and Photoshop
– Analysis and problem-solving skills
– Change management skills
– Organisational and planning skills
– Facilitation and design research skills
– An excellent communicator
