Systems Accountant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Systems Accountant for a 6 month contract on a rate of £29.89- £31.90/hour (PAYE).
Responsibilities
– Finance Systems Innovation: Identify and implement automation opportunities, leveraging AI-driven tools and workflows to streamline operations and reduce manual effort. Champion digital transformation projects within finance, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy.
– Systems Development & Integration: Collaborate with IT and finance teams to deliver system upgrades, integrations, and new technology deployments that enhance financial capability. Act as the subject matter expert for Finance System (Unit4 ERP, RAM Asset Management), ensuring optimal configuration and utilisation. Supports user acceptance testing and troubleshooting systems issues.
– Data Analytics & Insight Generation: Design and deliver dynamic dashboards and reports using Power BI and Microsoft Dynamics 365 to provide real-time insights for decision-makers. Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable intelligence for senior stakeholders.
– Training & Change Enablement: Lead training programmes for finance teams across all establishments, promoting adoption of new tools and best practices. Serve as a change champion, supporting cultural and process shifts towards digital-first finance
– Governance & Compliance: Ensure all system changes and processes comply with internal control frameworks, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain robust documentation and audit trails for system developments.
Essential Skills:
– Qualified Accountant (CCAB or Equivalent) or in the final stages of qualification
– ERP expertise: Proven experience developing and improving Unit4 ERP financial systems or equivalent ERP system enterprise
– Reporting tools expertise: Proven experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, PowerBI and other analytical and reporting tools
– Attention to details and accuracy: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy
– Financial and budgeting reporting proficiency: Knowledge of financial reporting standards, accounting principles and budgeting process
Desirable Skills:
– ITIL qualification
