Van Driver and Stores
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Livingston, is currently looking to recruit a Driver/Store Person for an initial 3 month contract on a rate of £13.50/hour PAYE. This role will be based onsite. The working hours are 36 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
 
– Deliver, fit, demonstrate and install specialist items of equipment in service user homes.
– Communicate with service users, office staff, and professionals to arrange times, access to property or any operational difficulties.
– Respond to breakdowns in the community and carry out minor repairs to equipment or exchange faulty equipment.
– Undertake servicing, Loler and Portable Appliance Testing of equipment instore or service users home. 
– Clean, refurb and repair equipment returned to store in guidance with infection control and store procedures.
– Participate in the stock control processes and procedures within the warehouse.
– Demonstrate to service users how equipment operates and how to charge batteries. 
– Ensure equipment is fitted and operating correctly, ensuring safe installation for service user.  Where equipment is not suitable or faulty, report back to office and offer recommendations for alternative equipment as appropriate.
– Identify the most suitable item to be installed from a choice of equipment requested by professional staff e.g. where more than one size of bath board is available.
– Carry out joint visits with professional staff to support their clinical assessment and provide technical information on fitting and installing equipment.
– Complete all relevant documentation, recording relevant information, serial numbers or asset tags, to enable service user’s records to be updated.
– Collect used equipment from service users and ensure that it is processed in accordance with infection control procedures.
– Receive and unload deliveries of equipment and process appropriately. Check delivery notes, liaising with office staff, attaching asset I.D’s, P.A.T, assembling and storing.
– Maintain stock of equipment within warehouse ensuring availability, rotation of Inco products and stock checks.
– Ensure that tools, PPE, cleaning products and spare parts are replenished and available instore and on vehicle.
– Assist service user’s instore with equipment and carry to car.
– Load vehicles ensuring items being loaded match accurately with delivery request list.
– Drive a range of vehicles including long wheel base and 3.5 tonne powered operated tail lifts, planning best route to enable effective, safe and timely delivery of service.
– Complete daily vehicle log book, carry out visual checks and maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior of van.
– Assist in the evaluation process for new equipment.
– Use hand held scanners to update electronic stock management system.
 

Essential Skills:
 
– Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with service users, colleagues and managers at all levels
– Driving license
– Moving and handling skills to enable items of equipment to be installed to the required standards
– Basic IT knowledge
– Excellent attention to accuracy and detail
– Good knowledge of planning delivery routes and multi-drop deliveries
– Ability to work flexibly to meet competing and unforeseen demands and to tight deadlines
– Display initiative and an ability to take ownership to solve problems
– Experience of working with vulnerable client groups
 
 
Desirable Skills:
 
– Experience of using hand held technology
– Experience of Loler checks and Portable Appliance Testing
– Experience of equipment provision
