Visitor Ranger – Aberdeenshire
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Aberdeenshire (AB31), is currently looking to recruit a Seasonal Visitor Services Ranger for a contract starting on the 1st of April 2026 and running until the 30th of October 2026 on a rate of £18.70.  
 
The role is 35 hours per week, working 5 days a week, predominantly Thursday to Monday. The successful candidate must have a valid driving licence. 
 
You must have a Disclosure Scotland or be prepared to apply for one. 
 
Responsibilities: 
 
– Welcoming visitors and providing information and advice on local resources, whilst promoting responsible visitor behaviours; 
– Monitoring and reporting visitor numbers and behaviour; 
– Work with Ranger services, communities and other partners to promote responsible access opportunities and address impact of irresponsible behaviour such as campfires in woodland, party camping, irresponsible dog ownership and litter; reporting breaches of regulations to appropriate services; 
– Assisting with the improvement and promotion of recreation facilities and opportunities; 
– Liaise and work with local crafts persons teams to carry out maintenance of sites and support programme delivery 
– Maintenance of Car Parking Machines and Car Park compliance checks/ promotion of paying for parking. 
– General site clear up, including litter picking; erecting signage/cones as required; 
– Supervising contractors that support visitor services sites; 
– Carry out inspections and audits of access routes and sites; undertaking any basic maintenance and repairs as required; 
– Other ad hoc recreation management duties. 
 
Essential Skills: 
 
– Experience of working in a visitor/customer facing role, ideally in an outdoors setting; 
– Great communication skills – you’ll be an enthusiastic communicator that develops relationships and rapport naturally with a wide range of people; 
– Able to work comfortably in all weathers and all terrains, including rough terrains; 
– Self-driven and used to lone working without direct supervision, using your judgement to take decisions appropriate to circumstance; 
– You can offer a flexible approach to working hours, as regular evening, morning and weekend working will be required; 
– Basic countryside management and/or practical maintenance skills; 
– Familiar with using Microsoft Office packages, such as Outlook, Word and Excel 
 
Desirable Skills: 
 
– First aid certificate; 
– Knowledge of the outdoors in the area/locality of work; 
– Understanding of Land Reform (Scotland) Act and Scottish Outdoor Access Code; 
– Experience of engaging with internal and external stakeholders; 
– Existing PVG Disclosure Certificate, dated within the last 12 months.
