Accountant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Swindon, is currently looking to recruit an Accountant for a 4.5 month contract on a rate of £17.56/hour (PAYE). This role is 36 hours per week with a hybrid model, working from home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
– Managing the preparation and submission of the quarterly VAT returns of the organisation and our shared service customers in a timely and efficient manner.
– Ensuring that the partial exemption methodologies for the organisation remain fair and reasonable and in line with legislation.
– Undertaking taxation reviews on projects and other significant business areas, providing knowledge and support to the organisation as a whole.
– Undertaking policy reviews in relation to taxation matters, ensuring knowledge is up to date and relevant, updating management in a timely manner.
– Advising on non-Payroll taxation issues (including VAT and Corporation Tax) affecting organisation and all customers, to ensure that taxation liabilities are minimised, as far as legally possible.
– Respond to tax queries promptly, escalating to approved third parties as required.
– Managing reconciliations relating to taxation and being responsible for communicating and resolving queries with organisation and all customers.
– Reviewing purchase and sales transactions and ensuring correct VAT treatment.
– Supporting and assisting the Financial Accounts team when required.
– Assisting all customers with regards to Gift Aid queries and calculations.
Essential Skills:
– Qualified CCAB accountant.
– Relevant accounting and taxation experience.
– Able to create, explain and document processes to users, supporting improved understanding.
– Reconciliation experience, including identification and rectification of errors.
– Experience of using a finance system.
– Keen eye for detail.
– Builds rapport and actively listens.
– Intermediate-level Microsoft Office user.
