Governance Officer
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Governance Officer for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of £200-£250/day (Inside IR35). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
You will support the delivery of an excellent, efficient and effective Governance team, ensuring best practice and adherence on all corporate governance matters across the organisation. The role of Governance Officer will work closely with the Information and Records Manager and the Senior Governance Officer, and report to the Head of Corporate Governance.
Responsibilities:
– Providing knowledge and advice to colleagues on corporate governance matters.
– Supporting the Senior Governance Officer on a broad range of corporate improvement projects.
– Representing the Governance team internally and externally.
– Maintaining systems/databases, including SharePoint and AdminControl, to ensure that corporate and request information is kept up-to-date, accurate, provided within deadlines and is accessible to all of the relevant people.
– Helping edit and prepare Board and Committee papers, attending meetings and preparing minutes.
– Assisting with monitoring, recording and responding to internal and external requests for information including Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations requests and Data Subject Access requests.
– Assisting the Senior Governance Officer in collating management information for the Board, including liaison with internal teams, ensuring accurate and timely production of business performance reports.
– Assisting the governance team with adherence to the organisation’s Complaints Handling Procedure as needed.
Essential Skills:
– 5+ years’ experience in commercial and / or public sector.
– Extensive working knowledge of relevant corporate statutory responsibilities and legislation within the public sector.
– Experience of working in a corporate governance support role.
– Experience of project management, quality management and decision making
– You are flexible and adaptable to change.
– An enthusiastic, proactive team player.
– Strong verbal and written communication skills.
– Ability to adapt to changing requirements and pivot as the role requires.
– Good networking and relationship management skills with the ability to deal confidently and establish good relationships with stakeholders and colleagues.
