Housing Assistant
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Barrhead, is currently looking to recruit a Housing Assistant for an initial 12 week contract on a rate of £16.92/hour PAYE – working 35 hours per week. This role will be based onsite in Barrhead.
Responsibilities:
– To provide an initial assessment/advice/triage service to applicants for housing to determine how best to proceed with their enquiry.
– To provide administrative and clerical support to Housing Options & Support Team including reviewing, managing and processing applications for housing either manually or online.
– To record, process and update void sequence in relation to void properties
– To allocate and maintain lock-up/garage site waiting lists. Assisting to maximise rental income and minimising void rent loss.
– Prepare paperwork for sign up packs for new tenants and arrange sign up appointments
– To receive/record mail and other verbal/written enquiries and allocate/process in accordance with departmental procedures
– To receive telephone calls and ensure appropriate follow-up actions including passing to a Housing Options Officer where appropriate.
– To ensure that all data privacy guidelines are followed at all times
– To ensure that information and data is kept safe, secure and accurate in line with current and relevant legislation and guidelines
Essential Skills:
– Educated to standard grade or equivalent
– Experience of dealing with members of the public in a variety of ways e.g. telephone, face-to-face etc.
– Experience of basic letter and report writing
– Excellent written, verbal and spoken communication skills
– Ability to utilise Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
– Ability to work well as part of a team
– Able to remain calm and collected under pressure
– Excellent customer service skills
– Has the customer in mind in the pursuit of positive outcomes
– Uses own initiative to seek guidance and / or assistance if goals or deadlines threatened
– Must be able to work to own initiative, and with little supervision
– Is empathetic and can relate to the needs of customers
– Works effectively as part of a team and supports colleagues where needed
Desirable Skills:
– NC/HNC in housing or related discipline
– Experience of dealing with housing related systems
