Assistant Hospitality Operations Manager
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a x 2 Assistant Hospitality Operations Managers until 11th December 2026 on a rate of £15.40/hour PAYE – working 35 hours/week with weekends/evenings included. These roles will be based onsite in Glasgow.
 
Responsibilities:
 
– Assist the DHOM to implement operational plans for Hospitality Catering to conferences in the Technology and Innovation Centre, delivered catering to the wider campus and special occasions.
– Assist the DHOM to help the team to deliver an excellent delivered catering service through great food and excellent customer service
– Line manage supervisors, delegating work as appropriate to ensure all areas are adequately resourced. Carry out routine monitoring of catering areas to check all agreed service standards are consistently met.
– Assist with the payroll process and monitor spending levels, keep financial and administrative records. Maintain stock levels and order new supplies as required.
– Assist with the implementation and compliance of all food & drink legislation, policies and procedures, in particular those relating to: health and safety, COSHH, manual handling & customer service.
– Assist with the review and development of systems, processes, and standard operating procedures as and when required.
– Assist with the management and delivery of all Hospitality services in liaison with: management colleagues, chefs, supervisors, external contacts and departmental colleagues.
– Undertake the annual ADR process for the supervisory team. Assist and mentor team leaders and supervisors with the ADR process for all relevant team members.
– Assist with the recruitment, induction, training and development of all relevant supervisors and operational catering staff. Act as first line contact for sickness absence, holidays and performance management issues for all relevant supervisors.
– Assist with the planning & promoting of Hospitality Services to enhance the reputation of Catering & Hospitality and the wider directorate.
– Perform any other reasonable duties requested by and including deputising and representing the DHOM in their absence.
 
Essential Skills:
 
– HNC qualified in a relevant subject and/or significant relevant experience
– Hospitality/Catering assistant management experience gained within a high volume and complex operational environment
– Experience of assistant managing a large workforce including absence management, performance appraisals, training, and staff development
– Knowledge of health and safety, food hygiene and working time directive and other related legislative requirements
– A proven track record in assistant management of commercially focused operations
– Excellent IT skills in particular MS Office suite, EPOS systems, Catering Booking/Management systems
– The ability to build, develop and engage in relevant professional networks
– Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to influence at senior level within and outside of the organisation
– An easy ability to energise and encourage others to collaborate effectively while motivating and managing the abilities of the team
– A highly motivated and customer focused individual, acting at pace and with integrity
– Excellent communication, interpersonal and change management skills
– Flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends as required
 
Desirable Skills:
 
– Membership of a relevant professional institution
– A strong track record of success within a profit centre responsibility with substantial budgets
– Personal Licence Holder (Scotland)
